About us
The company Czibula & Grundmann was founded in the year 2000. After the activity for many decades in the area of photometry and radiometry it was the aim of our founder to realize an own enterprise for the development and production of highly precise, high-quality and complex measuring systems. On these pages we would like to introduce ourselves and our product range. Please understand that the contents of our website cannot cover all our products and services due to the multiplicity.
Our Founders
retired but still in a supporting role

Our founder Mr. Czibula was born in 1953 in Budapest, Hungary. He completed his high school education at a technical school, where he learned, among other things, to work with and operate machine tools. This knowledge strongly influenced his later work, enabling him to carry out designs in a simple and precise manner.
From 1972, he studied Device Planning in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. In 1977, he obtained his diploma as a Mechanical Engineer.
After his studies, he began working as a research engineer in the Photometric Department of the Research Institute for Technical Physics of the Hungarian Academy. His most significant work there was the spectral adaptation of light-sensitive detectors to given response functions, particularly the V(λ) function. With this work, he was able to demonstrate a globally recognized development result in a short time.
From 1986 to 2000, he worked as a development engineer at PRC Krochmann GmbH in Berlin. Here, he developed numerous goniophotometers, sensors, standard lamps, and custom-made special measurement systems in terms of photometry and mechanics. His area of responsibility also included customer consulting in the fields of photometry, radiometry, and color measurement technology. In 1995, he completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Budapest. The title of his doctoral thesis is ‘Measurement Technology of Sky Luminance Distribution’.
He worked part-time at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Laboratory 4.12 Photometry. There, he developed a rotating prism photometer for the dissemination of distribution temperature.
Our company thanks all customers, partners, and supporters for their trust and encouragement, which gave our founder much strength on his path to self-employment.

Our founder Mr. Grundmann was born in Hamburg in 1966. After completing school, he began studying electrical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and gained early practical experience as a working student at SIEMENS.
In 1988, he attended a lecture on photometry by Prof. Jürgen Krochmann, which led him to join PRC Krochmann GmbH. Alongside his extended studies, he built a strong practical foundation that became essential for his later work.
At PRC, he specialized in developing software for controlling measurement systems, including data management and analysis. This required a deep understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of photometry and radiometry. He was also responsible for installing systems for customers worldwide, gaining valuable experience that directly influenced his software development.
He contributed significantly to the development of a DOS-based lighting planning program, later adapted for Windows, which received the Innovation Prize for Software in Berlin-Brandenburg in 1996.
After completing his studies in 1999, he worked on the development of the lighting design software DIALux. Soon after, he returned to Berlin, where a series of favorable circumstances led to the founding of Czibula & Grundmann.
In the company, he focuses on device conception and software development, particularly customer-specific solutions for processing and managing photometric data. These systems support the creation of print media, electronic catalogs, and data interfaces for lighting design applications.
